Happy Halloween

Today was Halloween at school. I went as a butterfly. I dressed all in black and had monarch wings. Marie was a tree so we posed as though I was "on" her. Most of my kids dressed up. We also celebrated Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). We made quesadillas, had taquitos, chimichangas, sandwich cookies, and Jarrito soda. It was pretty cool. A bit tiring.

House-hunting

Ray and I spent the afternoon going to a few Open Houses. Man, house-hunting is exhausting and somewhat discouraging. Too many of the things we can afford are condos, which we don't want. It's a good thing we're not planning on buying one in the next few months. Hopefully, there will be more options by next year!

Went back to the Tech to see "Haunted Castle." It was somewhat disappointing. Not what we expected.

Close call

Went to the Tech with my Handsome. Saw "Blue Planet" on the IMAX. It was a really good show. It made you really think about the effects we're having on the planet. We also checked out the new exhibit, "Game On." There's a lot of old video games. Even I found it pretty interesting. Talked with Fred and Jorge. Ran into an ex-friend and gave him the cold shoulder. Had a late lunch at the Cafe and almost ran into MAG. Him and DT walked by while we were eating but our backs were to them. That was such a weird feeling.

After the afternoon at the Tech we went back to my house to rest a bit and then went to my parents for my sister's Halloween get-together. Johnny joined us and a few of her friends showed up. Saw Scary Movie II, a bit of a retarded movie, Dead Birds, and opted to watch One Missed Call instead, which was ok but a lot better than Dead Birds!

Happy Birthday Mommy Jen

Happy Birthday to Mommy Jen (10/31) and Baby Chase (about 3 months ago).

Friday, 10/28/05:
Went over to Jen & Steve's for her birthday/Halloween party. Got there around 6:30. A bunch of Zanker folks were there, Johnny, and our Friendster friend, Chi and family. Did an Irish Carbomb with Steve and the boys. Wasn't such a great idea to do that before eating. Feeling a bit woozy. Johnny's ex texted him (that biotch!) and so I decided to take it upon myself to end this endless shit of "Even though I dumped you on your friend's wedding can you come wait for the cable guy for me?" I texted back a very unfriendly msg and of course she immediately tried to call him but thank God he didn't answer!

A late thank-you

When Ray came back from visiting his parents in Arizona last week he brought home a monogrammed towel that his mom embroidered for me. It was so cute of her to do that! She even did one for Ray so our towels are now hanging in my bathroom. I just wanted to thank you her for that.

Hump Day

Thank God it's Wednesday!

This week has been "off." Had a PMS outburst with Ray (poor Ray), as a result of the PMS outburst I was totally drained on Tuesday, and then we had our first field trip today. We went to the San Leandro History Museum and Art Gallery. I have to say that that's the best field trip for our money. They provided the students with many types of activities. The students had to get in groups and do short presentations about different times in history, they got to check out the museum a bit, and then they had 4 hands-on stations to give them the experience of being in the 19th century. It was very cool. I highly recommend 3rd grade teachers in the East Bay to check it out!

Watercourse relaxation

Sunday, October 23rd:
Ray and I hung out with my sister in the morning and then we headed to Watercourse Way to finally use our gift cards. I love Watercourse Way. We have Lucille to thank for that! We spent the first hour in a hot tub and steam room and then the second hour was getting a massage. It was so great. We ended the afternoon spa retreat with a late lunch/early dinner at Miyaki's. Now we're sitting in my room watching the Dave Chappelle's stand-up show thanks to TiVo!

Chewbacca kicks ass!

Saturday, October 22nd:
The day started out with getting an oil change (finally) and then swinging by Ray's cousin, Eugene's, place to drop off some dried herbs from his mom. We hung out for a bit and then headed to my house. We caught up on Ghost Whisperer (I love TiVo!) and other shows that got recorded. Johnny came over around 4:30 and we got some Subway. We headed up to San Leandro around 6:15 to take the BART to the Oakland Coliseum for the Golden State Warriors game.

It was our first NBA game, and we were really excited. They were playing against the Seattle SuperSonics. Although it wasn't a really exciting game it was a fun experience. There was one Warriors player that made most of the points. We could barely pronounced his name and we kept butchering it every time the announcer said it. Eventually I just called him Chewbacca since that was the closest it got for me! At the end of the game the Warriors were trailing but Chewbacca had to make sure that the Warriors at least showed that they don't suck so he slam dunked a ball seconds before the game ended. Even though the Warriors lost the arena went nutso when Chewbacca did that.

On a side note (mainly for Shirley): talk to Johnny about crazy Kelly. I think he needs intervention from Ms. Jou since Ms. Nguyen is doing the best that she can. The lesson plan should consist of comprehension skill strategy: reading red flags.

Fondue fun!

Friday, October 21st:
Jen & Steve hosted fondue night. Ray and I hadn't had fondue in a long time so we were very excited. We arrived there around 6:30, beginning time was 6:00, and of course we were the first ones. We finally sat down to eat around 7:15 by the time Maggie & Ramon, and Lucille and her friend got there. We started out with a cheese fondue using veggies and bread to dip, we then had a broth fondue with chicken, tuna, and tri-tip, and finished with a chocolate fondue with strawberries, bananas, and marshmallows while downing white wine, my V. Sattui Gamay, and Lucille's Bouteille Calle, or as her friend calls, "Booty Call!" Overall it was a fun night and I enjoyed a nice buzzed sleep!

Fondue fun!

Friday, October 21st:
Jen & Steve had fondue night. I hadn't had fondue in months. I'm surprised I didn't think to do that when Ray and I were in Paris, since it's suppose to be a French thing! Anyways, I got there around 6:30, the evite stated 6:00, and not surprisingly Ray and I were the first ones there. I was starving too! By 6:45 we were going to start with the cheese but then realized Jen assigned Ramon & Maggie to bring the bread! Damnit! They did get there at 7:00 so we started getting it ready. Lucille and her friend showed up around 7:15ish (just in time). We enjoyed bread & veggies with the cheese, tuna, chicken, and tri-tip with the broth fondue, and strawberries, marshmallows, and bananas with the chocolate fondue along with white wine, my V. Sattui Gamay, and a Bouteille Calle that Lucille brought, which her friend liked to call, "Booty Call." hehehhehehe.....The evening ended around 10. It was fun. Lots of fun conversation. Was a bit nervous at the beg. because the conversation seemed to be stuck on teaching, but luckily it didn't last too long and we moved on to more general topics.

My new friend

I have a new friend. We haven't hung out too much, but I'm very excited about our future together. We got acquainted last night and again this morning and it was quite exhilirating! I have Ray to thank for my new friend. Would you like to meet it? It's name is..................................TiVo!!!!!!! ahahhahahahahaaha!!!! Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me!!! No, it's not my birthday but it's my early birthday present from Ray! No more freak-outs about mis-recordings or having roommates forgetting to turn off the VCR. I am now part of the TiVo family and it feels grrrrreat!

Over 24 hours left.....

I didn't realize how much I missed Ray until I got mad at him yesterday for not calling on Saturday. It was like I was holding these feelings inside and occupying myself from Thurs. until Sat., but once it was Sunday and I was home alone I started to feel it. Then, when I started talked to Ray online and realized he hadn't even checked his phone for messages until that moment everything that I was holding in came out. I think my reaction to the fact that he didn't call on Sat. and that he didn't even bother to check his phone until I mentioned it was based on my missing him. As I had said before, this is the first time we have been apart for this many days and trying to deal with not seeing him everyday and not being able to lie next to him every night was a jolting experience that I kept inside myself until I actually had time to think about it. I guess I'm glad it all happened on Sun. and not earlier because now I only have less than 2 days left and he'll be back!

I love Shirley!

Oh yeah, I forget to mention, I love Shirley! I really loved the time we've been spending and I do want more of it. I definitely feel that I'm more ready to do things on my own a lot more now so I'm glad Ray's leaving happened now!

3rd day sans Handsome

Today was a fun day. It started out with going to the JamFest with Shirley and her sisters,Diane and Alice. The JamFest is a cheerleading competition and it was held in downtown SJ. Since we enjoy "Bring it On" very much we had to go see the real thing. It was very interesting. A lot of the teams, even the older ones, made mistakes. It was somewhat disappointing, but still fun. We stayed there for about 3 hours and then headed over to Shoreline Amphitheatre for the Diwali Festival. It's an Indian festival of lights. We walked around a bit, ate some good Indian food, watched some dancing, and hung out. We headed home around 6 to make some spinach dip and relax a bit before Johnny's Pimps and Hos party.

Marie arrived at our house at 10 p.m. and we headed over to Johnny's. Shirley and I dressed up as hos and Marie was a sheriff. We got there and there was already a fair amount of people. Lily and Aussie's roomie were there. We danced, hung out, and met some cool ppl. There was this one guy that Shirley thought was trying to bust a move on me so she would always "save" me and then it turned out that he actually liked Shirley! I think maybe he was doing the whole "getting friendly with the friend to get the girl" technique! Anyways, it all become junior-highish when he has his friend try to get Shirley to talk to him when he should be the one approaching her! I mean, I believe he is in his late 20's and should be mature enough to do it on his own! Does he really think it's sexy or a turn-on? I don't think so!

Anyways, the night ended with a couple of Johnny and Jose's co-workers allegedly swiping $100 worth of alcohol. Jose wanted to have a beat-down, but that was ridiculous. It sucks but it's not worth it because it's just alcohol. Just never invite these ghetto-ass people again!

Day 2 of sans Handsome

Went to Borders with Lucille for the Teacher Appreciation Event. Got an apple, some other goodies, and dessert samples. Hung out and talked. It's nice just talking to Lucille one-on-one since we rarely get to do that. We talked about engagement rings and letting your man know so you actually get the one you want. So that inspired me. Ray called me early that evening and we had a nice conversation. Talked to him about my conversation with Lucille and apparently he was receptive towards knowing what kind I want. Sooooo.....I went on Shane Co.'s website and designed two rings and sent it to him. I'm so bad..... :-)

I miss my Handsome.....

Ray just flew out to Arizona to visit his parents. He'll be there until next Tuesday. This is the longest that we'll be apart and although I'm glad this had to happen now instead of earlier in relationship I still miss him like crazy. I couldn't stop thinking of him all day. The mere thought of not having him next to me makes me sad. Tuesday could not come any sooner......

Damn sore....

Don't you hate it when you bite the inside of your mouth and then a stupid sore forms in that place? How about you doing that, the sore forms, you take a huge chomp in the exact same spot a day later, the sore is now bigger and there's a smaller one right below it, and THEN the large sore and little sore join forces and become a HUGE ASS sore! Yeah, that's my life for the past few days. It's like mutiny in my mouth. If it wasn't for the fear of starving to death I wouldn't eat until this damn thing heals.....

Lazy Sunday

10/9/05:
Had lunch with Ly at IHOP. Our waiter took forever to bring my sister's side of hollandaise sauce so she just cancelled it. The waiter felt really bad so he took off $7 off the bill. We were totally surprised. We gave him a $2 tip.

The afternoon was spent going to the gym with Ray and then being couch potatoes while catching up on our shows. I've been experiencing a lot of TV ditziness where shows are accidentally getting recorded over or not getting recorded so Ray has decided to get me a DVR for my bday. Yee-hawwww!!!!

Blue Angels memories

10/8/05:
Ray and I rode the bike up to SF around noon to go to Fleet Week at Fisherman's Wharf. We had never been to it before and I've been meaning to go so I was glad we decided to go. We first grabbed some clam chowder in a bread bowl and sat on wooden pallets along one of the piers to watch the Red Bull Air Races. The soup and bowl was very yummy! It kept me going the whole day!

Afterwards we walked around a bit before we headed over by Ghiradelli Square to watch the airshow. We initally had to stand so we stood over by these stone steps that led to the little bit of sandy beach. We watched the opening acts and finally the Blue Angels performed. I was really excited to see the Blue Angels since I hadn't been to an airshow since I was little. My dad used to take the family to Moffet Field to watch the Blue Angels so it brought back a lot of good memories with the family. After that airshow we headed home and conked out around 10.

Dinner at Maggiano's

10/7/05:
Ray and I still had our Maggiano's giftcard that Joy and Lea Ann gave us for Xmas so we've been trying to find the perfect day to go with them. We were finally able to do that today. The folks that joined us for the stomach-bursting, wine-drinkin' event was Joy, Rob (Bigs), Lea Ann, Cindy, Rob (Little), Joy and Lea Ann's friend, Johnny, and Ly.

Maggiano's is a more upscale version of Buca di Beppo. It is very busy and the plates are huge but the decor is darker and more intimate considering that the chairs were so close to one another! We all shared a large bottle of Chianti while my sister also had a Cosmo and I had a Midori Sour. We were seated at 9:30ish and didn't leave 'til almost midnight! Afterwards we headed to the V Bar in Hotel Valencia. You actually have to wait in line to get into the elevator! The V Bar was pretty swank. It had a red-tinged lighting with metal beaded curtains that separated the bar from the hallway. I was a bit tired and I think all the food and alcohol was making my stomach funky so I was glad when we headed home at 1 a.m.

Hanging with the girls

Ray was planning to go to Arizona to visit his parents so I had planned a girl's weekend. Even though he postponed his trip I still went ahead with my plans and I'm really glad I did. I think at this point in the relationship I'm now ready to be with other people without Ray. So here we go!

Friday, Sept. 30:
Jen and I went over to Lucille's to hang. We got some Baja Fresh, watched some Charmed, got waxed, and then made turong (spelling?), a Filipino dessert. You make it with plaintain, jackfruit, and roll it up in a egg roll wrap. Unfortunately the plaintain I bought was very dry but luckily Lucille had a banana so I subbed. I caramelized some sugar to drizzle over the fried product. Turned out pretty good!

Saturday, Oct. 1st:
Ray and I hung out in the morning washing and waxing my car. shirley, ray, and I watched two episodes of "So You Think You Can Dance." Ray went home and Shirley and I took a walk to the supermarket to buy ingredients for our roommate dinner. We had fun conversation. We talked about everyone and everything. Just like old times! Eventually Lorena got home and we made lasagna, spicy tomato soup, salad, and apple crisp. I was soooo full! I haven't felt that full in so long! It was fun talking and hanging out with the roomies. We're gonna try and make this a monthly thing.

Sunday, Oct. 2nd:
Just vegged out and hung out with my Handsome!
