The ex factor

I've never kept in touch with any of my exes. It has always been a personal choice of mine since I felt like after spending that much intimate time with another person I felt I couldn't just switch from lovers to friends like one would do switching jobs. I can't imagine hanging out with an ex and reminiscing about stuff because it'll only be about times when we were together so it would seem weird. So when my path crosses with an ex I don't know how to react or behave. Should I say hello? Should I pretend I didn't see him and ignore him?

In a nutshell

Last day of school....
Very sad. I hate having to leave another group of great students that I've grown so attached to. It makes me sad knowing I'll never see them again. It made me even sadder when I had said goodbye to all my kids and as the last kid left the classroom one of them came back in looking sad and said to me, "I'm REALLY going to miss you." WAAAAAA!!!!!

Houswarming Luau.....
Extremely happy to have my cousin My-Any fly up for our housewarming. A bit disappointed in the party itself. A lot of flakers that gave no explanation for their MIA status and a lot of people who were aware of the party but gave us very little respect and consideration to RSVP. People don't seem to realize how much work I put into these parties. I don't throw some half-ass "college" party where things are thrown together the day off or the night before. I literally plan my parties at least 2 months in advance and spend a lot of time planning the decorations, writing out the menu, and generally providing an environment where people can have a lot of fun. And so it's a real insult and disrespect when people either never RSVP or say they're coming but flake out but never call, email, text msg to apologize for not coming. Don't people realize that on evite I can see who viewed the invite so I know the ppl who have seen the invitation but don't bother to answer. If shit happens then shit happens but at least give me a heads up. I'm seriously contemplating not throwing the annual luau next year or until further notice. I have more important things to plan in my life right now and if ppl don't give a shit about my luau then cancelling it indefinitely will not put a dent in their lives therefore why should it put a dent in mine's?

Flash is flashy!........
Tech summer camps started the 19th. This past week was Animation Sensation where the kids learn to use Flash 8. It's quite fun watching the kids get creative and into it. A couple kids drove me crazy but that's typical. I really like the new lead instructor.

The "Ho" down.......
June 23rd was Mike H's wedding to Lani. It was at Maison du Lac in Los Gatos but really in the Santa Cruz mountains. It's a really pretty place but a bit hard to get to since you have to drive in highway 17 and that always sucks. It was an outdoor ceremony and reception. The tables were labelled with names of musicals and our placecards looked like theatre tickets. What a great idea! We dined on salmon, tri-tip, veggie pasta, rice, salad, and fruit. Marie and Lynn were also present. I had a bit too much wine before we ate so I got a bit buzzed so I cut back once the food came! The dessert consisted of an assortment of pies, ice cream, and wedding cake. The biggest thing that happened was when Lani's dad presented them with..........a NEW CAR!

Lookin' smokin' hot......
Ray and I went up to SF to look at the proofs for our engagement photos. There were some ok ones and some really good ones. I was very satisfied with the way the pictures came out. It is definitely proving my theory about picture taking even more!

Busy, busy, dizzy, dizzy

Last weekend was the only weekend we didn't have a family or friend event and yet we were commpletely swamped! Saturday the 10th was spent cleaning up the garage, taking Herc to his last day of class, more cleaning, and hanging out at Home Depot to beautify our home before the housewarming. Sunday the 11th was spent with more garden work, thanks to Ray, and shopping for wedding gifts and too many other things. Herc had his first grooming appointment and he did really well. He still smells good!

This week has been a tiring week. It is the last week of school. I have one more day left! Woo-hoo!!!! I feel sad yet relieved at the same time. No more long commutes and waking up super early to get there early just so I can leave early and beat the traffic! No more avoidance of school events afterhours because I don't want to drive up there or stay that late unless it's mandatory. But then again, another set of students I will never see grow. *sigh* Very conflicting feelings.........

Today was our picnic at Cherry Grove park. I had invited the other 3rd grade teachers to join me and 4 other teachers agreed. I set up all the paperwork to send home to the parents and basically did all the tedious work for the teachers. All they had to do was copy a set and send them home. I was planning on taking my class there around 8:30 to get dibs on tables and grills since it's a first come first served thing. What irked me was that two of the teachers weren't planning to come until later even though they knew I was coming early. I saw it as them seeing an opportunity to still get a picnic spot without having to go super early and deal with the weather and kids playing for so long. I was really bugged by that. Luckily we didn't have to compete with other elementary or junior high classes but I was still annoyed by this. It's ppl like that that makes you not want to try and give a helping hand.

On Sunday we headed up to SF to take our engagement photos. We're doing our engagement photos with our wedding photographers and we were able to get the photographer doing our wedding to do the engagement so that was great. The appointment was at 9 a.m. It took about 3 hours to pick a dress and get my hair and makeup done. I do have to say that I looked pretty hot! The only thing I have to gripe about was the fact that when I got my hair and makeup done they didn't place a smock over me so the black sweater I was wearing got some powder on it. Luckily a bit of water fixed that, but still!

We took formal pictures at the Palace of Fine Arts. Herc came along and we had him wear a bandanna that looked like part of a tux. It was so cute! He was able to be in a lot of our pictures. After that we went back to the studio to change into more casual clothes and took pictures at the windmill in Golden Gate Park and Baker Beach. It was a lot of fun but very tiring! Now I have a better idea what it's like to be a model! It took about 3 hours for the whole shoot. We had a quick meal nearby, got home a little after 5 and were knocked out 'til 10:30 p.m. stayed up for a couple more hours and tried to go back to sleep.

Chihuahua races

On Friday we stayed over at Marie's to decrease the time spent on the road to Santa Rosa for the Chihuahua race. We entered Herc in the Petco Chihuahua regional races on Sat. Although we didn't stay for long (he lost. :-( ) it was very entertaining to watch. The dogs are placed in this compartments and the front opens for them to run towards their owner. Over half of the dogs end up checking out other dogs or running around in circles. Even though Herc lost he did come towards me just not fast enough!

Celebrities can be so frivilous. Sometimes it seems like the only sensible people out there are those who aren't making millions of dollars. Take the amount of money that the current celebrities are spending on their children. They are spending thousands of dollars on faux mink throws and stuffed elephants that cost $60. It makes you wonder if all of this is for the baby or for themselves. Maybe because when they were younger and were raised in a poor family they always dreamed of being able to spend their money on ridiculous items because for a 2 month old I really don't think they give a shit whether or not their crib is custom-made or that the throw they're lying on is made of faux mink!
