I'm so sick and tired of people thinking that there's nothing wrong with going back on their word or flaking out without any justifiable reason except that they are cowards and/or stupid. I'm also tired of feeling like I invest so much into friendships and not feeling like I'm treated the same. Sometimes I feel like my friendships are not as valued by others, but instead is seen as a convenience when needed.

Sweet words to my ears

"Have you lost weight?"

School has been in session for almost a month and yet you still either a) forget your students' names or b) pronounce it incorrectly and then you occasionally bitch about how you can't get their name right in front of them! Last time I checked "ch" doesn't make a "s" sound!

We spent the morning picking up trash with Winnie, Lynn, and Manoo (?). You wouldn't believe the crap people throw on the side of the road. We found the usual aluminum cans and wrappers but we also found rubber-type items that I refused to pick up as well as a car hood (yes, a car hood!) and the cover of a cabinet cable tester (yeah, I have no idea). We found so many car parts we could've seriously built a whole new car!


The afternoon was spent up in SF having lunch at Nordstrom's Cafe Bistro w/ Johnny, Kendra, and her friend. We haven't seen Kendra in about 3-4 years so that was a real treat. I had a bistro steak with fries and aioli sauce. The sauce was soooo yummy. Ray had jumbo lump crab cakes, Johnny had a steak sandwich, and Kendra had a tomato bisque. A bit pricey but not too shockingly expensive. Afterwards we parted w/Kendra and friend and went to pick up our engagement albums. They're so pretty! I'm happy to finally have them so I can stare at them every day instead of staring at the ones on the computer. We then headed to Mitchell's Ice Cream for some yummy goodness. I had a scoop of kahlua mocha cream and mexican chocolate, ray had mango and oreo cookie, and johnny had sorbet. Life is good when you have ice cream in your tummy.

My heart soared when a student that I already decided was going to be one of my low students was able to read his first pre-decodable book on the first test!

I think "Fashion House" is quickly becoming my guilty pleasure!

Don't you just love it when a kid throws up in front of you......twice? This is why I teach.

Never split an alcoholic drink with Ray. It may get you wasted and cause you to have to edit your blogs because you weren't thinking straight!

Me: Hey student, good to see you today. Were you sick yesterday?

Student: No, I got new shoes!

Me: Oh, ok!

Me (thinking): School doesn't start 'til 11:20 and you couldn't have bought your damn shoes before school or after?!?! New shoes my ass!

I'm so tired from adjusting from my summer schedule to work schedule and I'm so hot from the lack of AC in the classroom. But, I love my kindergarteners because of the way they make me feel when they give me their bright smiles as they go into the classroom and I love my principal for coming to the classroom today just to tell me how glad she was to have me at this school.
