Anniversaries and gay pride........

Countdown: 2 weeks until our Europe trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday (6/25/05)
Ray's ex had a timeshare up in SF that her and her bf couldn't make it to so she gave it to us as a gift. Let's not even go into how WEIRD that is!....ok, maybe we will go into it!

Tangent moment: Seriously, I already have a hard time accepting the fact that two people who had a long-term relationship, who shared intimate moments, have gone through the process of meeting the family, etc can just easily transition into friendship as though they had never slept with each other and said the "L" word. That to me, is WEIRD. Even though Ray has explained the dynamics of what was once their romantic relationship and the reasons for the mutual breakup I still think it's WEIRD! Soooo.....when your bf's ex gives you a weekend timeshare so the two of you can get it on, I think that is...say it with me.....WEIRD!!!

Returning from "Tangent moment": So anyways, Ray and I went up to SF on Saturday to enjoy the "weird" timeshare. Since we couldn't check in 'til 3 we stopped at Adventures Biking and rented a tandem bike to cruise around SF. Ray had the jones to go to Golden Gate Park and according to him it wouldn't take that long to get there. Whatever! Remember folks, it may look like a short ride but in SF NOTHING is a short ride! After an hour of huffin' and puffin' we didn't even get near the park! But aside from that, I had a lot of fun. Being on a tandem takes a lot of hard work because not only do both people have to peddle but you have to try to stay in sync. We got some gooood exercise!

Afterwards we went to the Steinhart Aquarium and saw some cool fish and cute penguins. We then checked into the Donatello (NOT Donatella!). It was a pretty nice room. We had a microwave, fridge, toaster, nice big bed, a huge sofa, a stereo, and a nice sizable TV. We conked out for about 2 hours, had dinner at Cafe Mason (good eats!), and conked out around midnight. One thing I do have to say about the hotel that I've never experienced with any hotel is the room "service." When we got back from dinner someone had gone in and remade the bed, closed the curtains, left 2 mints, and put soft music on. It was a nice surprise!

Annoyance of the evening: We were strolling down the streets of SF looking for a place to have dinner and we decided to stop by a public art gallery. 2 annoying things happened there. We were walking through this "hallway" with paintings on each side of the wall and when we approached the opening of the room one of the employees there walked right by us. If we had walked any faster she would have knocked right into me so she was close enough that it was obvious that it could've happened and that woman did NOT even acknowledge us. No, "excuse me" or "oops!" The second annoyance was the realization that they didn't think we were good enough for that gallery because we were there for at least 5 min. when an older couple walked in and within a minute one of the employees started talking to them. Talk about rude! That was sooooo discriminatory!

Sunday (6/26/05) Happy 11-month!!!
Got up around 8:30, had breakfast, and went out to experience the Gay Pride festivities. We've never been to one before so it was a nice treat. We first headed to Market around 10:30 to watch the parade. Saw a naked man on a bike. We then headed back to the hotel before noon to check-out and then drove closer to the festival. The festival was over at the Civic Center. It was huge! I have never seen so many naked men in my entire life! Along with purple men, and orange men, and men with balloons attached to them, and men with huge-ass blond wigs.......We got to listen to Kimberly Locke (American Idol), Third Eye Blind, and En Vogue.
We left the festival around 6 to go back to the car and rest before this jazz concert we were going to. Paula West performed and she was pretty good. After intermission a guest performer went on the piano and we thought he was going to duet with Paula but after 30 minutes of listening to him it was obvious he was doing his own thing before she got back on. I wouldn't have minded it so much if it wasn't for the fact that it was already 9pm and his style was not to our taste. So we left at 9:15ish before Paula even got back. By then so many people in the balcony had left!
